COURSE 1 – 1 CEU
8:30-9:30AM – “Lumber Market and Supply Chains… And How to Prepare your Contracts” Chris Routhe, Millard Lumber, Inc. & Craig Martin, partner of Lamson Dugan and Murray, LLP
Course Overview: Chris will begin the first half of the session with what is the current status of the Lumber industry and what is the forecast for 2022. Craig will present the second half on how to implement labor delays, cost shortages, etc. into your contacts.
COURSE 2 – 1 CEU
9:45-10:45AM – “What is your Warranty?”, Craig Martin, partner of Lamson Dugan and Murray, LLP
Course Overview: During this presentation we will discuss contractor warranty obligations, including the warranty obligations in your contract and those that are added under state law. We will also discuss some options you have to clearly define your warranty obligations in your construction contracts and limit your liability should a project end poorly.
COURSE 3 – 1 CEU
11:00AM-NOON – “Selling a Business & Succession Planning” – Matt Pinkerton, Prudential
Course Overview: While many businesses run for years, even over several generations, businesses open and close all the time. We will discuss a few reasons why you may want to sell or close your business. During this presentation we’ll discuss how to change the ownership of a business through selling, closing, or handing the business to successors. As well as how to establish an exit strategy for retirement which includes a succession plan, transferring ownership of the business, and paying taxes.

12:15 – 4:00 PM – Mike Wilwerding & Anna Bespoyasny , City of Omaha – Building Code Updates and changes
Ed Day Fee Includes: three 1-hour CEU courses approved by City of Omaha for Contractor Licensing and 3 CEU’s provided by the City of Omaha, totaling six hours for the day.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Craig is a partner of Lamson Dugan and Murray, LLP. He is the head of the Construction Practice Group and represents contractors, subcontractors, developers, owners, materials suppliers and design professionals in construction disputes in arbitration and State and Federal courts. Craig is also well versed in construction contracts, including AIA and Consensus. His goal is to provide cost-effective counsel to the construction industry.
Craig is the primary author the Construction Contractor Advisor blog, https://www.ldmlaw.com/construction-contractor-advisor/, a construction related blog that focuses on legal trends and best practices in the construction industry. He has also served on the board of construction industry trade groups, including Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the PRO of NE-IA.

Thank you for registering for the PRO of NE-IA Fall Education Day. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this event will be hosted virtually to allow local Omaha Contractors the ability to acquire the 6 hours they need for city licensing. The day will include 3 hours business and educational management in the remodeling and construction industry, and 3 hours from the City of Omaha. This is a FULL Day course with 10 minute breaks to be provided between each session, with Q & A in each session. Attendees will be verified with each course, you will ONLY receive credit if you attend all courses, a certificate will be EMAILED to each participant within 10 business days, this is your copy to hold on to and provide to the city.
**Cancellations or failure to complete this course WILL NOT be refunded. All changes or cancellations to registration must be made to PRO by DEC. 1st, 2021 or no refund will be issued.
