Project Details

The Challenge

The existing main-level layout lacked functionality and flow for a busy family, particularly in the kitchen, which felt cramped and inefficient. Additional challenges included poor circulation from the garage entry, an undefined dining space, limited storage, and the need to accommodate two users with a significant height difference (6’6″ and 5′). The clients also wanted improved privacy for a workspace without fully closing it off, while maintaining an open, cohesive feel throughout the home.

The Vision

The vision was to create a welcoming, Earthy Modern home that balanced warmth and comfort with clean, functional design. By blending natural materials, modern finishes, and thoughtful pops of color, the goal was to enhance daily living while maintaining visual continuity across the open floor plan. The design aimed to feel spacious yet cozy, practical yet elevated, with each area clearly defined but seamlessly connected.

The Solution

The solution involved reimagining the main level through strategic space planning and custom design elements. Key moves included removing the corner fireplace to open the living room, replacing the kitchen peninsula with a large island, enclosing the former dining room to create a light-filled office, and redesigning the garage entry into a fully functional drop zone. Custom cabinetry, varied textures, integrated storage, and height-conscious design details ensured the space worked beautifully for both clients while supporting their daily routines.

The Results

The completed project delivered a dramatic transformation, resulting in a cohesive, highly functional home with a documented 100% improvement in usability. The redesigned spaces now support efficient workflows, improved storage, and comfortable family living, all while achieving the desired Earthy Modern aesthetic. Despite an expanded scope and tight timeline, the project was completed successfully, offering a refined, personalized environment that enhances both form and function.
