Project Description

The Challenge

Walking into a dark and outdated space, the clients were ready for a change in their primary bathroom. Although, with every space, there were challenges to overcome to make that happen. Our main challenge was reworking the existing shower. The existing shower’s glass around the door was awkwardly angled and the homeowners wanted to switch it out with a more intentional layout. Finally, the outdated whirlpool tub, flooring, and tile needed to be replaced to transform their primary bathroom into their dream oasis.

The Vision

To make the homeowner’s vision come to life, we wanted to find a way to brighten up the space while keeping the existing character. To do so, we needed to find a way to allow the natural light to shine through the window while keeping the privacy that the blinds provide. We knew we needed to use a large white format tile to keep the shower. Installing a wood-look tile on the floor, black tile for the shower, and a grainy wood vanity would pull in the character the homeowner was looking for.

The Solution

We made the homeowner’s vision come to life by overcoming the challenges. First, we squared off the shower which allowed us to put in a large bench and a built-in niche. The next focus was vanity, the homeowner wanted to add character to the space by selecting dark-stained oak cabinetry. Our final solution was to frost the large window above the tub so the homeowner could remove the blinds which allowed the window to bring natural light into the space without losing their privacy.

The Results

The clients were ready to enjoy their new spacious shower and soak in their new freestanding tub while admiring the beautiful custom dark-stained oak vanity with full overlay cabinets and two utility cabinets that have hamper pull outs in the bottom section. To make the shower shine, we used a marble look large white format tile on the walls, black tile for the shower floor, and gold fixtures. The vanity was anchored by two utility cabinets with hamper pull outs in the bottom to allow for less clutter throughout the space. All the intentional details made this space feel like the in-home oasis the homeowners envisioned.
