Modern Outdoor Dining in Aksarben

The Challenge

Inner Rail Food Hall serves as an outstanding community space for the Omaha Metro, but needed an addition that would create a high functioning space & allow end-users to enjoy the outdoor seating for a longer period of time throughout the year.

The Vision

Create a solution that fits the narrow space, is safe for public use, and compliments the already stunning architectural features that the Food Hall and surrounding Aksarben areas offer.

The Solution

A seven-zone multilayered aluminum pergola with motorized louvers, heaters, lights, an integrated gutter system, and side panels that help diffuse the once “wind-tunnel” in the Food Hall. Factoring in both the aesthetics and what the public would appreciate are the most important aspects of a project like this. Between both the heaters & pergola, this outdoor space will extend its use by approximately 30-45 days per year.

The Results

A space that will bring the Omaha Metro together outdoors for a longer period of time throughout the year. With all of the creativity in the Aksarben area, there needed to be a pergola structure that would fit in seamlessly with the other architectural elements that the Aksarben area has to offer.
