The Challenge
Create a space that feels cozy and intimate while also allowing room to entertain larger groups. Functionality is a top priority in our design philosophy so we wanted to ensure that each zone in the space made sense with the day to day life of the homeowner but that she would also be able to easily host friends and family.
The Vision
This Valley home is already a dream location with rolling hills and groves that make it feel like you’re in the secluded countryside, not minutes from Omaha. Timing was finally right to build out the unfinished basement and truly make this home the perfect space to relax, recharge, and entertain. It includes a guest/pool bathroom, guest bedroom, bar area, living room, game area, seating space, and a home gym. It’s also the connecting point for the pool deck and outdoor kitchen.
The Solution
Enter Archive Interiors and Mike James Renovation to complete the build out of the space. Archive had worked with the homeowner 6 years ago on the initial build and was brought back on for the basement finish. The homeowner wanted a design style that was a moodier, more masculine departure from the main floor style but still creating “through lines” that tied the spaces together. Archive Interiors utilized textured materials, soft tonal pattern, natural stone, and warm wood elements to create the desired effect.
The Results
A low-maintenance home full of warmth, texture, and durability.
