The Challenge
After completely redoing their existing spaces and still longing for more, the homeowners knew it was time for an addition. They came to us with a vision of adding on a large primary suite and walkout basement space. The challenge that came along with this was the desire to utilize the remaining yard space for a pool. With that, the basement space needed to be functional year-round. All that in mind, we needed to be intentional with the layout and selections made.
The Vision
The main vision for this addition was to create a spacious spa-like primary suite, additional laundry space, wet bar and a basement space that is functional year-round. In addition to the interior vision, the homeowners wanted the design of the exterior to match the existing home. The focus before making this vision come to life was making sure there was plenty of space for the pool they were to add after the addition was finished and being intentional with the design of the walk out basement space.
The Solution
We were excited to help make the homeowner’s vision come to life. To do so, we focused on one level at a time. Starting with the basement walk out space, we were able to design a layout that was made up of a storage room, extra bedroom, bathroom, a playroom, and still allowing for a large open space with a wet bar for hosting. This space flowed perfectly into the existing basement space which made it seem like the addition has always been a part of the home. Moving onto the upstairs, the existing primary bedroom and bathroom were converted into a spare bedroom, hall bathroom, and hall closet for additional storage. By transforming those spaces, the upper part of the addition was exclusively the primary suite. This allowed for the couple to have a large primary bedroom, spa-like primary bathroom, and walk-in-closet all to themselves.
The Results
Finally feeling like their home was complete, the homeowners were left with an addition that looked as though it was always a part of the home. The luxury primary suite upstairs gave the couple a space that felt removed from the rest of the house. This space was a dream come true for the couple and is full of intentional details. The hardwood floors to match the existing upstairs, tons of natural light, a spacious primary bedroom with a cozy fireplace, coffered ceiling, beams, and a spacious walk-in closet. Not to mention the new basement space that checked all the boxes. Made up of an extra bedroom, bathroom, and a large open space with a wet bar for hosting that can be used year-round – pool party approved! With the new addition full of new functional spaces, the homeowners are ready to get their pool done and start enjoying their forever home.
