The Challenge
The Skyline Ranches mid 70s ranch home, was a home that had a beautiful exterior contemporary look but was screaming to get out of the 70s on the inside and needed a refresh on the outside. The interior was extremely choppy and outdated with the golden oak accents which was expected from a home of that era, and the basement had several hundred sq ft of storage that needed to be converted to living space.
The Vision
To convert the choppiness to an open concept, every inch utilized to bring the WOW factor to the beautiful bones the home had laid out. The gutting process was going to be extreme touching every inch of the home and bringing the inside basically down to the studs and knocking several walls out and creating new ones, while adding two bedrooms and two bathrooms to the basement.
The Solution
To have a well-designed plan with active participation from the homeowner, created with extreme detail and a vision that will be timeless going forward, while utilizing the space for a growing family or a couple heading into their sunset years. A complete revamp of the kitchen, dining and master bedroom areas was the start. We wanted to incorporate the magnificent roof lines and structures of the exterior siding and windows to bring the interior into the current decade. We updated the entire basement while adding another 500 sq ft of living space, adding two beds and two baths. We were able to utilize some of the current vaulted ceilings while uncovering more vaults when tearing down the current drop ceilings.
The Results
A true home of beauty, that will truly get every dollar of the renovation back when it is time to sell and enjoying the concept until that point. The home is made for entertaining and family enjoyment with two very large living spaces one down and up. The end result is a 5 bed 4.5 bath, with a 3 seasons room incorporating the back yard and over looking a 110 ft waterfall. No one will ever know this house was a 70s retro at first glance.
